Stalking and Teens Web training
Dear Colleague:
We are excited to announce our upcoming Web training, Stalking and Teens, to be held January 23, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. ET, in conjunction with the fifth National Stalking Awareness Month, January 2008.
Stalking and Teens, moderated by our Teen Victim Initiative director Mitru Ciarlante,
is the fourth in our Web-based series on helping teen victims of crime.
Sandy Bromley, the Stalking Resource Center's senior staff attorney, will discuss harassment cases involving teens and recent research on the use of technology in stalking. She will also explore the normalization of stalking and its impact on youth and teens.
Registration is free, but spots are limited. We ask organizations with
multiple participants to register as one person and view the
presentation together. We also encourage you to register early because the response to our first trainings has been overwhelming. To register
or to access training materials, visit ncvc.webex.com. For assistance,
please contact Mira Krivoshey in the Teen Victim Initiative at
202-467-8747 or mkrivoshey@ncvc.org. Materials from past sessions can be
downloaded at www.ncvc.org/tvp/main.aspx?dbID=DB_TeenT A151.

Dear feminist activist,
Dr. Tiller needs your help! The extremists are trying to shut him down. In what could become a "witch hunt", a grand jury has begun its investigation of Dr. George Tiller for supposed violations of Kansas abortion law.
The grand jury was convened after the extremist group Operation Rescue joined with Kansans for Life to file a citizen petition under an 1887 Kansas law. It took only 6,186 signatures to launch this latest attack in a relentless campaign to close down this vitally needed clinic.
Please also show your support by sending Dr. Tiller and his staff at Women's Health Care Services a letter, letting them know how much you appreciate their continued work to protect women's health and lives in the face of continuing attacks on their clinic. ..http://salsa.democracyinaction.org/o/1 400/campaign.jsp?campaign_KEY=22291
Despite over 20 years of anti-abortion harassment, intimidation, and violence, his clinic was bombed in 1986 and he was shot five times in 1993, Dr. Tiller remains steadfast in his mission to provide compassionate and quality healthcare to women seeking late term abortions because of illness or very troubled pregnancies. He is there when few other doctors will help.
The Feminist Majority Foundation's National Clinic Access Project, the oldest and largest in the country, has worked with Dr. Tiller for more than 15 years to counter the constant attacks and threats of anti-abortion activists. We must make it clear now that we will not allow a small group of zealots pervert the law to advance their extremist agenda.
For Women's Lives,
Eleanor Smeal
President

* Women, Poverty and Criminalization to name a few!
WHJI is committed to advancing a sexual health and reproductive justice movement in New Orleans that understands the impact of violence, poverty, gender inequalities, reproductive control legislation, trauma, coercive
sterilization and dangerous contraception policies, and the harmful effects of toxic environments have on women’s health and well-being[1].
Our first Organizing Institute, scheduled for Saturday, January 26, 2008 at 1452 N. Broad Ave (The Children's Defense Fund Office) from 10:00 am - 4:oo

efforts of INCITE! New Orleans and local health care practitioners and
activists challenging the social invisibility of women color and poor women experiences, vulnerabilities, and health care needs. Our mission is to develop community-based strategies to improve the social and economic health and well-being of women of color by 1) centering the experiences of
low-income and uninsured women of color living in the intersections of
oppression based on race, gender identity and express, sexuality,
immigration status, ability and class; and (2) addressing the social, economic, culture, and political conditions that impact women’s health.
